The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, South Central Synod, Very Rev Chukwuma Kalu Okorie, has appreciated God’s grace upon the Presbyterians in Owerri Presbytery. Speaking during the 175th-anniversary thanksgiving service of the Church, held at the Presbyterian Church, Aladinma, Owerri, Imo State, last Sunday, 5th September, 2021 the Moderator acknowledged God’s grace and blessings that have brought the Church thus far. His sermon charged Christians to go the extra mile with God as they move from glory to glory. He applauded the Presbytery for the well-coordinated and organized hosting of the event.
In his contribution, the Clerk of Owerri Presbytery and the National Director, Presbyterian Students Fellowship (PSF), Very Rev. David Ama Kalu posited that they are appreciative of God for the vision and mission of the church in Nigeria and beyond, insisting that the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of the mission forebearers will not be in vain. He posited that Owerri Presbytery will continue to propagate the kingdom of God while working hard to diminish the forces of darkness. He commended all the Parishes who attended the event, especially members of the South Central Synod led by the Moderator, Very Rev. Chukwuma Okorie, and the Clerk Very Rev. Israel Iduma Chukwu.
In her remarks, the Owerri Presbytery Moderator, Rt Rev. Mrs. Grace Enene Oku said that she was grateful to God for the success of the event, stressing that the work of God must go on despite the challenges buffeting the church. She congratulated the awardees (some members of the church) who have contributed in one way or another to the growth of the church. The award ranged from Posthumous, Pillars of support, Worthy Ambassador, Excellent Steward, Icon of Leadership to Voice of the Voiceless.
